Bloomsbury Beginnings (previously Bloomsbury Babies) is a non-profit supporting parent-entrepreneurs with a start-up course and workspace. In order to survive in a competitive environment, they needed to grow a sustainable activity.
Web & brand design, WordPress/Woocommerce CSS customisation, user research
This phase is the most important one. To help Bloomsbury Beginnings, I took part in a thorough research programme, including client interview, competitor research, customer interview, focus-groups and workshops
We had a deep understanding of the organisation’s challenges and strength. From this we created an action plan (overhauling the business model of Bloomsbury Beginnings) as well as a website re-design incorporating research findings.
We sketched an information architecture and wireframes. I wrote a list of useful features, key content and went on the hunt for the perfect theme. After much consideration, I choose Atelier from Swift.
We tested paper wireframes on Bloomsbury Beginnings’ customers. I consulted with one of the organisation’s customers with ecommerce experience: she helped us gain clarity about the Unique Value Proposition of the site.
We amended some of the wireframes to ensure all pages were easy to use and useful.
A phase of intense ‘building’ work followed: installing the theme, choosing/testing plugins, amending CSS to customise the site. Once all pages were complete, we quality-tested the e-ticketing pages. I paid close attention to payment methods. After launch, we had invaluable user feedback on the site’s functionalities, notably the ticketing system.
