Design of a new, innovative, easy-to-use tool for knit designers to upload and sell their patterns online. The challenge was to make something complex easy. The goal was significant for the industry enabling the digitalisation of millions of knit patterns would open up many more opportunities for knit designers, supplies retailers and of course LoveKnitting.
I created an online tool for knit/crochet designers to sell their patterns. I made the pages look simple and broke down the information required from users into chunks.
We worked in an agile way: with 2-week sprints. I was delivering wireframes and full annotations every other week. Tight deadlines meant it was essential for me to work closely with the project manager and web designer, gaining feedback from them regularly.
As sole UX designer for a start-up, I took on the role of user researcher as well. I designed a test, summarised results, presented them and deciding with the team what to improve based on the tests.
By the end of my contract, 2/3 of the patterns sold online were going through the tool I designed and tested. Some knit designers are now using the site to earn substantial revenues.
